Wild Olive pre-bonsai seedling plugs

Description

Wild Olive pre-bonsai seedling plugs, grown in seedling plug trays.  Suitable for you to develop into bonsai as the trunk is still pliable enough to wire.  Ideal for growing as a single tree or forest plantings.

The seedlings are despatched wrapped in plastic to conserve moisture.  When you receive them plant the plug, without disturbing the roots, into a plastic pot, in a good potting medium with added Multicote fertiliser. Water well and keep them in a shady spot for a few days slowly graduating them into a sunny spot. Leave them until potting season which is Spring and then root prune and pot into a bonsai pot, if you wish.  In the meantime you can wire them.

Olea europaea subsp. africana, also known as the African Wild Olive is evergreen and indigenous to various regions in Africa. One of the key characteristics that make the African wild olive suitable for bonsai is its small leaf size which creates a sense of proportion and balance in the miniature tree. The Wild Olive’s bark develops interesting texture and coloration as it ages.

African Wild Olive bonsai require plenty of sunlight and need frequent fertilising. Regularly inspect your bonsai for pests and diseases, and take appropriate measures if you notice any issues.
